Die St\u00fccke der international renommierten Schmuckk\u00fcnstlerin sind erstmals in M\u00fcnchen zu sehen. 1949 geboren hat sie als erste westliche Studentin in Japan eine Kumihimo-Ausbildung absolviert. Kumihimo ist eine alte japanische Flechttechnik, mit der aufwendige, gemusterte B\u00e4nder aus Seide hergestellt werden. Catherine Martin praktiziert diese Kunst, bei der h\u00f6chste Pr\u00e4zision erforderlich ist, mit hauchd\u00fcnnen Feingold- und Platindr\u00e4hten. In einem meditativen Prozess entstehen zarte Gewebe und elegante Muster. W\u00e4hrend ihres Studiums am Londoner Royal College of Art von 1992 bis 1994 widmete sich Martin ganz der Entwicklung dieser Technik.<\/p>\n

Bei der Suche nach Verschl\u00fcssen oder Broschierungen f\u00fcr ihre zarten Edelmetallgewebe wurde Martin auf die junge deutsche Goldschmiedin Dorle P\u00e4tzold aufmerksam, die ebenfalls am Londoner Royal College studierte. Seitdem bilden die beiden ein Team. In den vergangenen 25 Jahren entstanden auf Basis der Kumihimo-Technik zahlreiche phantasievolle Colliers, Anh\u00e4nger, Broschen und Ohrh\u00e4nger. Der Entwurf und das Gewebe kommen von Catherine Martin, Dorle P\u00e4tzold bearbeitet die St\u00fccke weiter und macht sie tragbar. \u00dcber ihre Arbeit mit Gold sagt Martin: \u201eIch liebe die Farbe und Sinnlichkeit, aber vor allem die Zeitlosigkeit \u2026 und den Gedanken, die Tradition fortzusetzen mit diesem sch\u00f6nen Material, das seit Jahrtausenden f\u00fcr Schmuck verwendet wird.\u201c<\/p>\n

Brigitte Scheytt, seit Jahren fasziniert von den Arbeiten Martins, bat Dorle P\u00e4tzold die Ausstellung zu kuratieren. Die Goldschmiedin ist seit Er\u00f6ffnung der Galerie 2016 freischaffend f\u00fcr die Geschwister Scheytt t\u00e4tig und ist auch mit ihren eigenen Schmuckkreationen in der Galerie Scheytt erfolgreich vertreten.
